Transformers (2007 Film)

Wow.
To call the movie "awesome" would quite literally be an insult; it was beyond awesome. The CGI was the best I've ever witnessed; you'd swear these things were real with how well they moved and interacted with the human actors. I need to give a special nod to the transformations; they were very fluid and believable, especially when the characters would morph as they were running/driving/flying along the scenery. Fighting scenes were top-notch, really giving off the sense that these two factions were involved in a long and grueling war, and that changing the battlefield to Earth hasn't changed much for them. Megatron and Optimus Prime especially deserve credit for being characterized rather well, and their fight sequences were among the best in the picture.
I may update with a more thorough review at some point, but I've got to get some work done. In the mean time, I will acknowledge that the concept of this movie has polarized a lot of the fandom. Nevertheless, if you still have an open mind about it, go see it. If you've never gotten into the Transformers craze, go see it. And if you love watching large things go boom and giant robots beating the crap out of each other without the encumbering weight of a Shakespearean plot, go see it. Really, you won't be disappointed.
