Finally dusted off my translator privilages here on LJ and got to work on a few simple strings. I hadn't realized how rusty I'd gotten; I had to refer to a dictionary a few times for some of the tricker words and concepts I don't get to practice that often; then again, the stuff that LJ abuse deals with isn't typical dinner-table fare in my family.

Hopefully I can get back to this regularly and eventually get my Spanish in tip-top shape.

"Wow, Straxus* looks great! Nice tank mode, awesome robot mode... oh, but those ANKLES. Hrm, dunno if I'm gunna buy it now or not D:"

*called "Darkmount" on the toy because apparently Hasbro couldn't secure the trademark on Straxus.

Battery is once again discharging WHILE the computer is plugged into the AC adapter. And I can't replace it.

Fuck.

So here's a meme, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] jennifer:

Feeling equally "fnaaar" as [livejournal.com profile] jennifer, but for different reasons. I may update if I have time with real stuff later.

If you or someone you love uses Reader, be warned that a security flaw has been detected in their implementation of Javascript: http://blogs.adobe.com/psirt/2009/04/update_on_adobe_reader_issue.html

Follow the directions in that e-mail to disable Javascript in Reader; until Adobe patches future releases, this is the only way to get around the flaw (aside from using another PDF reader, of course).

The story thus far (names removed...just in case):

Protecting your eyes from the wall of text since 2009 )

I'm willing to give them one more shot before looking to see what other courses need to be taken. My concern is that my initial screw-up will absolve them of all this mess AND I might still need to pay for the part that seems nebulous to everyone involved D:

So, yeah. Rage over...for now. Need to look at slides.

First, it was an issue with the battery on my Toshiba Satellite (A105 series) not charging. As in at all. That sucked.

The new battery charged, but when unplugged, it would linger at 100% for 5-15 minutes, then bust out with "You are at a critical battery level. Please save yo-" *zwip* Fantastico, but at least I can have a temporary charge while moving my computer around.

NOW, the computer is randomly deciding when it wants to draw power from the electrical outlet; at random times the connection to the AC adapter will cut out, depending on how the computer is positioned. This can either be an issue with the adapter itself or with the port it plugs into on the computer. I have no idea how to diagnose this without dropping the ~$100 I don't have on another adapter to test things -_-

Anyone know what I might be able to do relatively cheaply to try and pinpoint the issue(s)? I'm not opposed to cracking open the machine as it's past warranty already.

How many of you knew that having two spaces after a full stop is technically incorrect?

I didn't, and shame on you for never correcting me. Even never having read my sentences is a poor excuse.

(My God, this is going to be a hard habit to break D:)

Evidence!

So yes, my fellow NEers, get ready for another fun-filled end-of-the-week snow shower. Huzzah D:

Also, I need a Lavos icon :/

I'm having difficulty which pairing I currently like more:

Usagi/Mamoru (Sailor Moon): probably my first OTP;
Rogue/Gambit (X-Men): I've not read many of the X-Books in a LONG time, but I know these two have had it quite rough over the years, and there's something about that that's endearing, especially since they always end up back in each others' arms.

So, yeah. Mind the random clogging of your f-lists, just thought I'd let my fingers write on their own for a bit ^^;

Best way to start the morning food-wise :D

Hello my faithful viewers! Welcome to the first installment of Simple Meals with Dave (SMwD), wherein I provide easy-to-make recipes that you can try at home! It's so easy, a doctor of Biomedical Engineering can do it!

Today we bring you a simple take on an oldie (is it an oldie? Bah, let history decide that): the breakfast sammich. I'm sure you've encountered many variants in numerous fast-food establishments, but this one might take just a bit less time to receive and enjoy. It's also relatively cheap, as calculations toward the end will show.

Let's get started:

The true opening to Metal Gear Solid 3 is TOTALLY a rip-off of a 007 James Bond opening.

C'mon, now, Konami :P

I guess it just goes to show that you can be stupid regardless of your beliefs, or lack thereof :/

Kerri Walsh, US volleyball player in the Olympics, loses her wedding band during a match.

Volunteers find it in the sand after the match. There is much rejoicing.

Announcer before the US-Cuba match (8/11, ~9:15 PM EST): "Now why was that wedding band so important?"

Um. Because it's her WEDDING BAND? Yeah, there's a sweet, personal message on it, but does it REALLY matter? It's a symbol of the love she and her husband share! That should be all that matters.

Blargh. Just ticked me off a bit, is all :P

Ho-kay.

Normally I don't do politics here; I like to consider my posts somewhat light-hearted and not very polarizing.

However, I...I had to share this monumental stupid with those of you who follow this blog.

This little ditty comes from the Urban Legends Reference Pages; specifically, their latest entry as of 8/5/08. As are the brunt of their more recent entries, this is very likely an exact reproduction of the contents of one of those oh-so-fun chain letters that get sent around. I'll cut it - and the rant - in case none of you wants to get your blood a-boilin'.

Snip snip for some stupid far-right sentiment -_- )
