I just helped my wife do something she's never done before: beat The Legend of Zelda for the NES.

I don't think I've ever legitimately beaten Zelda for the NES. Using a computer emulator with easy access to save-states and such doesn't count, in my book. And I know I've never finished Zelda 2, even on an emulator. I've been meaning to eventually do something about that since I have them both for the Wii (which is about as close as I'll probably ever get to beating them "legit" since I don't have an actual old-school NES with the games), but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. :/

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise: TLoZ is TOUGH. Unless you've got the mechanics of the enemies down to a science, the Blue Darknuts and Blue Wizzrobes will eat. you. alive. Hell, I have a SENSE of how to deal with them and they still manage to give me a hard time.

I beat that way back when we had an NES. It was pretty hard. I never managed to make it through the second iteration though. The first time around was hard enough.
