I done the unpossible!
Feb. 22nd, 2004 09:59 pmWe didn't think it could be done.
The prophecy predicted that this task would be nigh impossible.
The gods themselves send plagues and cats our way in an attempt to thwart our progress.
But we did it.
I taught Jen how to solve simple differential equations.
A WINNER IS ME!
It took a little while, but I showed her how to solve very, VERY simple first-order differential equations, the kind she'd run into in the course of any neural modeling she'd have to do for her classes. Granted, I didn't go into the nitpics of syntax involved in writing out the integrals, but that's not important. She understands how to do them, and thus my mission is accomplished.
It's quite a sense of satisfaction, really, to have been able to teach her how to do this, despite her never having taken a single course of calculus in her life. We both feel really accomplished tonight, which is a good thing. I dunno if this will make her see the light of the awesomeness of math, but a man can dream, can't he? A man can dream...
