When I asked my advisor if I could have off between the 23rd and the 30th, he said, "Let's talk about that" when we have our meeting on Monday. So no, it's not a complete death sentence, but his tone certainly didn't give off any indication that he wanted me away for that measley week. *sighs* I guess this is one of the disadvantages of being a graduate student...

Why can't you get a week off? Randy get's the full student holiday (practically 3 weeks) even though he's got the boss from heck. Your advisor sounds rather unreasonable.

It's not set in stone yet; I'll talk to him Monday and see what he says, then if all else fails, ask if I can maybe at least have the weekend (Friday through Monday). Oh, and Mario, if you could not tell Mom about it, that'd be great (you know she'd flip if she found out).
